Welcome. This site acts as a repository for things I’m interested in, thoughts I have, and things I want to remember. I’ve included some background , if you’ve met me in a particular context but don’t know other aspects of my working life.

I have spent 20 years working in technology and payments. I have a few granted patents in this field. With my business partner, I built a company which ultimately found its success in securing payments in contact centres. We sold that business to Eckoh, where I work part-time as Director of Payments Strategy. We invent genuinely new technology, build working models, and commercialise and patent where appropriate. It’s a fun job.

Most of my time is spent working for Green Angel Syndicate, the only UK business angel network focused exclusively on investments in companies which help the green economy; so-called “cleantech” or “greentech” businesses.

I love technology and its applications to businesses and people and the environment. I’d love to hear your ideas and opportunities for investment and/or involvement.

I am an accomplished public speaker and can impart complex processes or issues in a simple, easy manner. I remain the only person who has revealed his actual credit card details (front and back) to an audience comprised of several hundred people whose job is to stop people revealing their credit card data unnecessarily. And then doing it again at another similar conference.

I have a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and have been an aircraft and space nut forever. My kids think I talk too much about contrails and von Kármán vortex shedding. A very kind astronaut friend took a photo of a photo of my family displayed on a laptop screen on the International Space Station so he could ‘take me to space’ – probably the closest I’ll get.

At some point soon, I will have lived longer in the UK than in Australia.
